Personal Trainer in Settle: What PT at TNT Hybrid Looks Like
Looking for a personal trainer in Settle? Here's what good PT looks like, how to pick the right coach, and who coaches at TNT Hybrid.
You have tried doing it on your own. A plan from an app, a burst of motivation, then life gets busy and it fades. Or you have never trained at all and do not know where to begin. Either way, finding a personal trainer in Settle used to mean very few options.
That has changed. This guide explains what a good personal trainer actually does, how to pick the right one for your goal, and who you will find coaching at TNT Hybrid.
Quick answer: TNT Hybrid, on Sowarth Industrial Estate in Settle, has nine coaches covering strength and Hyrox, endurance, menopause, combat sports, Pilates and sports performance, with 1:1 and 2:1 personal training available. Your first session covers your goals, history and how you move, then you train. Call 07942 150569 or email gym@tnt-hybrid.co.uk and we will match you with the right coach.
What a personal trainer actually does
A good personal trainer is not someone who counts your reps and shouts. They do four jobs that are hard to do for yourself.
- They build the plan. Your sessions are based on your goal, your history and your week, not a generic template.
- They teach technique. Squats, deadlifts, presses and carries done well from day one, so you progress safely.
- They keep you accountable. A booked session with someone expecting you is far harder to skip.
- They adjust as you go. Bad week? Niggle in your knee? Hit a new best? The plan changes with you.
That last one matters most. Progress rarely runs in a straight line, and a coach who knows you can steer around the bumps.
Who personal training is for
Personal training is not just for athletes. Some of the people who get the most from it are:
- Complete beginners who want to learn properly and feel confident in the gym
- People coming back after injury, a long break or having a baby
- People with a specific goal, such as a race, a Hyrox, a wedding or a walking challenge in the Dales
- People who have stalled and keep doing the same sessions with the same results
- Busy people who want every hour in the gym to count
If you recognise yourself in any of those, PT is worth a conversation.
How to choose the right personal trainer in Settle
Not every coach suits every person. Before you book, think about:
- Their specialism. A coach who runs ultras will think differently from one who competes in powerlifting. Match the coach to your goal.
- Their experience. Ask what qualifications they hold and how long they have been coaching.
- How they communicate. Some people want a gentle approach. Others want to be pushed. Be honest about which you are.
- When they are available. Early mornings, lunchtimes or evenings. Make sure their diary fits yours.
- Where they train. Good equipment makes coaching easier. A gym on your doorstep makes turning up easier.
Meet the TNT Hybrid coaching team
One of the biggest advantages of training at TNT Hybrid is choice. Our coaches cover very different specialisms, all under one roof. You can see full profiles on our trainers page.
Strength, powerlifting and Hyrox
Tomi Tatham is a co-owner and former professional boxer, ranked number four in the UK at light heavyweight. Since boxing he has competed in Hyrox, strongman and powerlifting, and he built TNT Fitness and TNT Elite before TNT Hybrid.

What to expect from your first PT session
Your first session is mostly about getting to know you. Expect a conversation about your goals, your training history and any injuries or health conditions. Your coach will then take you through some simple movements to see how you move.
After that, you train. Nothing extreme on day one. The aim is to leave knowing what you are working towards and how you will get there. Each coach runs things a little differently, so ask when you book.
Personal training or classes?
They do different jobs, and plenty of members use both.
Classes give you energy, community and a fixed time in your diary. Our timetable includes Strength, Metcon, Evolve, Spin, Pilates, Boxing and Women's Group PT. See the latest times on the classes page.
Personal training gives you a plan built around you, technique coaching and someone tracking your progress closely.
A common approach is one PT session a week to set direction, plus classes or your own training in between.
How much does a personal trainer cost in Settle?
Personal training rates vary by coach and by how many sessions you book. Contact us for current prices and we will point you to the right coach for your goal.
Gym memberships start at £40 a month for our Local Club, Student and Over 65s plans, plus a £25 joining fee. Unlimited gym and classes is £90 a month. Full details are on our membership page.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be fit before I start personal training?
No. Personal training is one of the best ways to start, because your coach builds everything around where you are now. You do not need any gym experience at all.
How many PT sessions a week do I need?
One or two sessions a week suits most people, with your own training or classes in between. Your coach will recommend what fits your goal and your schedule.
Can I do personal training if I have an injury?
Often, yes. Tell your coach about it at the start so they can plan around it. We also have an on-site sports therapist if you need treatment alongside your training.
Do you offer women-only sessions?
Yes. Women's Group PT runs on weekday mornings and gives you coaching in a smaller, supportive group. Check the current times on our classes page.
How do I book a personal trainer at TNT Hybrid?
Call or email us and tell us your goal, and we will match you with the right coach. Members can also book through the TNT Hybrid app.
