Women's Gym in Settle: Women's Group PT and Strength Training at TNT Hybrid
Looking for a women's gym in Settle? Women-only Group PT, female coaches, pre and postnatal Pilates, and a simple plan for your first month of strength training.
You want to get stronger, but walking into a gym full of barbells feels like walking into someone else's space. You are not sure what to use, you do not want to feel watched, and the classes you have tried before were either too gentle or too much.
If you have been searching for a women's gym in Settle, this guide explains what TNT Hybrid offers women at every stage, from your first session with weights to training through pregnancy, menopause and beyond, and how to start without the nerves.
Quick answer: TNT Hybrid in Settle is not a women-only gym, but it runs Women's Group PT, a coached strength session for women, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:30am and Monday at 6pm. Female coaches include Hannah Benson, Louise Coates and Rebecca Preston. There is also pre and postnatal Pilates and a Mum and Baby class. A £10 day pass lets you try it first.
Is there a women-only gym in Settle?
Honest answer: TNT Hybrid is open to everyone, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we do have is dedicated women's sessions, a coaching team with several female coaches, and a culture where nobody is watching what you lift.
For many women, that combination works better than a women-only gym would. You get a coached women's group to build your confidence, and the full 6,000 sq ft facility to use whenever you are ready.
Women's Group PT: what it is and when it runs
Women's Group PT is a structured, full-body strength session for women to lift, learn and progress together. It sits somewhere between a class and personal training: you get coaching on your technique in a smaller, supportive group.
It currently runs:
- Monday at 9:30am and 6pm
- Wednesday at 9:30am
- Friday at 9:30am
The morning slots suit parents after the school run, shift workers and anyone with a flexible day. The Monday evening session is there if you work nine to five. Times can change, so check our classes page or the app for the latest.
Why strength training matters for women
Strength training is not about getting big. It is about being able to do more of what you enjoy, for longer: carrying the shopping and the kids, getting up the hill to Castleberg without stopping, and feeling capable in your own body.
Lifting also supports your bones and helps you hold on to muscle as you get older, which matters more with every decade. And getting visibly stronger month by month is one of the best confidence boosts there is.
Common myths we hear
- "I'll get bulky." Building a lot of muscle takes years of very specific training and eating. Most women simply get stronger and more toned.
- "I should do cardio first and lift later." You can start lifting now. Strength and fitness build well together, as our strength and conditioning guide explains.
- "I'm too old to start." You are not. Women start lifting in their fifties, sixties and beyond. See our guide to strength training for older adults.
- "Lifting is dangerous." With good coaching and sensible progression, it is one of the safest ways to train.
Training through every stage of life
Pregnancy and after birth
Pre and postnatal Pilates is available with Avril Stapleton, who is Level 3 Mat and Reformer Pilates qualified and certified in pre and postnatal Pilates. We also run a Mum and Baby class on Tuesdays at 2pm; get in touch for details on who it suits and what to bring.
Always check with your GP or midwife before starting or returning to exercise during pregnancy or after giving birth.
Perimenopause and menopause
Rebecca Preston has been a personal trainer for nearly ten years and specialises in peri- and post-menopausal women. Our guide to strength training for perimenopause covers how to train around symptoms and why lifting matters so much at this stage.
Coming back after a break
Injury, illness, a busy few years: whatever kept you away, start with two sessions a week and build from there. Our guide on how to start training when you feel out of shape walks you through it.

Your first month: a simple plan
- Week 1: Book a tour or a £10 day pass. Try one Women's Group PT session and walk round the floor.
- Week 2: Two sessions. Learn the basic movements: squat, hinge, push, pull and carry.
- Week 3: Two or three sessions. Start adding a little weight when a set feels comfortable.
- Week 4: Keep the routine. Note how much you lifted in week one and compare. That is your proof it is working.
